In order to settle the saturation had prisons in Andalucía, it promoted
the creation of an Implemenation Plan, Reform, Improvement and
Modernization of correction facilities in the area, following which
proceedings were throughout national, starting with the construction of
Puerto III prisons in the Puerto de Santa María, in Cádiz, megaprison
which was inaugurated on June 7, 2007.
With the installation of leading-edge security and high quality by Grupo
Portillo, this work presents and extraordinary nature, motivated also by
its large size and capacity as well as the unusual fate of the building to
a disadvantaged group and aimed at facilitating the social reinsertion of
the same, far from the usual stereotypes of residential building prisons.
With the addtion of Prison Puerto III to the network of state, has
increased the numer of places in the province of Cádiz, has 1414 cells
and holds over
2.000 inmates.
